Group Project with Jie Zhang
Kakeawase-komisen-tsug belongs to the tsugite group, which is used as the name of the chair. It is a method to join pieces of lumber without nails. Of the group of suites, the union of two horizontal pecks is on the same axis and sliding one over the other. Two pieces have an equal cut containing two vectors of action, two main parts, and the use of a pin for locking complexity. It is a traditional Japanese beam-to-beam joint commonly used as a floor slab to connect column slabs and cantilevers in roof construction. It is characterized by the addition of a pin or key inserted through the head of the tenon into the top of the pillar to tighten and strengthen the joint. The upper and lower pieces are exactly the same but reversed. The upper part is fitted into the lower part from the side, and one pins are driven through the one mortise. The result is a very tight and stable joint used to join ground sills and various beams that must withstand significant stress and strain.
