Compared with industrial and commercial areas, residential areas are mainly used in which housing predominates. Residential is an indispensable place for people to live, and it is also a place where people live. A good residential interior design can bring users a comfortable home experience. The mission is to design a residential that make users remember the feeling of home.
Client & Users

Claire Wu, a 26-year-old magazine editor who was born in China, raised in LA, and just moved into Atlanta. Kate Louise Carter, a 30-year-old writer who was born in Spain, lived in Atlanta for almost 9 years. Claire and Kate work at the same company. They have a similar taste for what they want about their new home. Both Kate and Claire would like a space area for entertaining. Like an area with a big television screen, so they could watch movies or have karaoke together. Kate is a quieter person and she is a writer, needs a private space for her to write and read. She prefers to work at home. Also, she likes baking. Both of them like an open kitchen. Claire likes doing yoga after work, she wants a small area for exercise. Both of them like a balcony for their home. Kate and Claire like minimalist style for their new home.

Project goal

Flexibility
Space needs to be diverse and comfortable for the client.

Entertaining
Space will be enough for clients to have some activities when they at home or have some guests come to visit.

Productivity
Both clients have a full-time job, need separate private spaces for them to work.

Function
The space of the study room which able to turn into a guest room.

Lighting 
The lighting should help clients feel warm and homely, make space feel more open.

Openness and privacy
The clients want an open place for them to spend time together, like the kitchen, living, and dining area. The clients also want their own private space.

Communal spaces
The space to facilitate communication between two clients and their guests as well. They require a balcony for them to have a small garden and drink tea there.


Kitchen is indispensable and very important in a residential. Through the design of kitchen, it can show the personality of customers and the style of a residential. The open kitchen not only makes the space feel wide, also improve the fluid of whole space.
KITCHEN SECTION PERSPECTIVE

This section perspective view shows the design detail of kitchen,  open kitchen with “L” shape island mainly uses for cooking. On the other side, there are some cabinets on the top and  bottom for placing kitchen utensils. The sink and dish washer, refrigerator are all placed on the right side near the window.

MASTER BATHROOM SECTION PERSPECTIVE

The wall of the bathroom in the master bedroom is mainly made of pink color with white tiles. The bathroom is designed with the function of separating dry and wet, separating the sink from the shower. It can be seen from the elevation that the bathroom is connected to the dressing room and has a large cabinet for the user to use.

MASTER BEDROOM

The color in the master bedroom is mainly blue, creating a stable and comfortable resting environment. The wall behind the bed backrest is designed with wooden stripes, adding a variety of designs to the overall space. The indoor lights use hanging pendant lights, which are placed on both sides of the bedside table, and both sides of the room are decorated with decorative paintings.

STUDY ROOM

The study room is located next to the master bedroom, which is very convenient to use. The interior is mainly brown, with a huge four-story bookcase. The characteristic design of the study room is that the desk is integrated with the bookcase and can be folded for use. There are also folding beds for rest near the window in the room, which can provide a place to rest and can also be used as a guest room.
